1) Transitional Space Town Hall:
For those of you who regrettably could not join us for wine and cheese with Dean Mayo Moran on Monday October 1, you may have missed the announcement that Victoria University will be the transitional space for the law school during the construction period from 2013 – 2015.
We will be hosting a Town Hall meeting on the topic of the Transitional Space – Victoria University on Wednesday, October 10 from 12:30pm-2pm in BLH. Alexis Archbold, Assistant Dean Students, will be in attendance from 12:30-1pm to provide us with a brief presentation on the transitional space, and to answer some questions from the audience. From 1-2pm, we will have an open discussion, moderated by the SLS Executive.
Lunch will be served, so come hungry and ready to chat!
2) CDO/SLS Mock November Interviews for 2Ls – Friday, October 12, from 10:30am-12:30pm
The CDO and SLS have teamed up once again to arrange Mock Interviews to assist 2L’s through the recruitment process. The mock interviews will be conducted by 3L students who went through the process last year, and who can provide you with information based on their own firsthand experience. The session will begin on Friday morning with a short overview from the CDO of the “in-firm” interview process that occurs between November 5th and 7th. We will then break everyone off into pairs and a 3L will walk you through what it was like for them during “in-firm” interviews. We will have 3L students who interviewed with government employers, small boutiques, mid-sized firms, big full service firms, and everything in between. This is a great opportunity to get a sense for what the interview process is like at this stage, and to talk informally with 3L students about their experiences.
2Ls please RSVP on the UTLawCareers website at www.utlawcareers.ca.
If you are a 3L student and want to help out between 11:00am and 12:30pm, email email@example.com.
3) Call to the Bar: It’s the pub night you wait all year for; the pub night to end all pub nights. This week’s Call to the Bar will be held on Thursday, October 11 starting at 10pm at the Fox and Fiddle on Wellesley. Replete with epic karaoke renditions and an upstairs Video Dance Party (a la MuchMusic dances circa 1997), the Fox and Fiddle never fails to deliver. For more details, go to the website at http://wellesleyfox.com/. See you there!
