The Law Students’ Society of Ontario (LSSO) will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Osgoode Hall Law School from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Law students at LSSO member schools are invited to partake in the AGM in one of 3 ways:

  1. Attend the AGM as an Observer.
The LSSO AGM is open to all members of the community to attend as an observer. Observers are welcomed into the AGM at the discretion of the Chair, and such welcome will not be withheld unreasonably. Registration is not necessary, but please email info@lsso.ca if you expect to attend the AGM so that we can ensure our facilities can accommodate all interested parties.
  2. Make Representations to the LSSO Council & Executive at the AGM.
Students and organizations are invited to make presentations or written representations to the LSSO Executive and Council. Please email president@lsso.ca if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity. All requests must be received by March 1, 2015. Presentations can be made in person or via Skype.
  3. Speak to Your LSSO Council Members or Student President About What You Want the LSSO to Tackle in 2015/16!
Talk to your representations on LSSO Council or your student President about what you would like the LSSO to address in 2015/16. You can find a complete listing of LSSO Council members at http://lsso.ca/en/about-us/council/. You can read about our 2014/15 priorities and our general objectives at http://lsso.ca/en/priorities/.
All law students returning to full time study in 2015/16 are eligible to run for election to the LSSO executive:
The positions of President, Vice President (Internal), Vice President (External), and Equity Officer will be open for election. You can see descriptions of these positions and details on the election procedures in the LSSO Constitution: http://lsso.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/2014-09-20-LSSO-Constitution.pdf. It is recommended that those seeking election have served on the executive of their law school’s student council/government during the current year (2014/15).
The nomination period is open on February 13, 2015 and closes 1 hour prior to the scheduled start of the executive elections as set by the Chair as on the agenda for the AGM on March 14, 2015. Candidates require a single nomination of a current LSSO Council member. Nominations must be sent to the LSSO returning officer athenrylimheng@osgoode.yorku.ca.
Approved nominees may campaign between February 28, 2015 until the beginning of the executive elections as scheduled on the agenda for the AGM on March 14, 2015, subject to the limitations imposed by the LSSO Constitution.
Candidates are voted on by the member schools, and will have an opportunity to speak at the LSSO AGM.
