1. SLS Elections – Deadline Wednesday, March 11th 8:00PM

The SLS is running elections for the following positions in 2015-2016:
  • Executive: President, VP Social Affairs, VP StAG
  • Social Affairs: 2L rep (3 positions); 3L rep (3 positions)
  • Student Affairs and Governance: 2L rep (4 positions); 3L rep (4 positions)
Candidates may nominate themselves by emailing CRO Andrew Hotke (Andrew.hotke@mail.utoronto.ca) a statement of no more than 150 words with the subject line “SLS Election Nomination”. Statements are due by Wednesday, March 11th at 8:00 PM EST. Statements received after this time will not be accepted. Candidates’ statements will be distributed in a listerv email. The campaign period begins March 12th.
Voting will take place outside the Reading Room in Birge Carnegie on March 17-19 from 12:30-2:00 PM. All students are eligible to vote for Executive positions.

2. 1L Exam Study Groups – Deadline Friday, March 13th

Once again this semester, the SLS will be helping to facilitate study groups for April exams for all interested 1Ls. If you wish to be included, the SLS will match you with other students in your classes with similar studying preferences in advance of April exams.

If you would like to be placed in a study group please complete the following survey by Friday, March 13th.  Click here for the survey.

Please note that, even if you were placed in a study group last semester, you will still have to complete the survey to be matched with a group again this semester.

3.  SLS Elections: Executive Candidates Debate – Monday, March 16th

Candidates for the positions of President, VP Social Affairs and VP StAG will make brief speeches and participate in a debate Monday, March 16th, 2015 from 12:30pm-2:00pm in VC101. Questions can also be emailed in advance to CRO Andrew Hotke who will be moderating the discussion at Andrew.hotke@mail.utoronto.ca.

4.  Call to the Bar

The SLS invites you for drinks and a good time this Thursday (March 12). Please join us on the lake at Amsterdam BrewHouse located at 245 Queens Quay West at 10pm.

5.  LSSO AGM and Nominations for Executive – Saturday, March 14th

The Law Students’ Society of Ontario (LSSO) will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Osgoode Hall Law School from 10:00am to 5:30pm. Students who wish to attend as observers should email info@lsso.ca so that they can ensure their facilities can accommodate interested parties.

The LSSO is also seeking non-graduating students to fill the following Executive positions: President, VP Internal, VP External and Equity Officer. The campaign period is open as of February 28th and nominations will remain open until March 14th. Since nominations must be made by a current member school, please notify sls.law@utoronto.ca if you would like to be nominated by the SLS.
